Once your baby is able to start sitting and crawling around it’s the ideal time to bring them for a Sitting Up Baby Photoshoot! But what should you expect from the shoot and what can do you to prepare?
Welcome to Brading images. We are a Photography and Videography studio in Manchester, Salford, Irlam. We primarily do music videos and family photoshoots in the studio. So what helps to get the perfect Baby shot when your baby can crawl and sit up?
Getting baby’s attention
What to bring?
When coming for your Sitting Up Baby Photoshoot we recommend bringing something shiny and noise that will draw your baby’s attention towards the camera. Usually, we recommend a rattle.
Where to stand?
Mum, it’s a very good idea to stand behind the photographer so your baby looks at the camera, but the photographer will do everything she can to get your babies attention.
Getting baby to smile
At this age, we use balloons a lot as babies love them. The photographer will play with the balloon near your baby until they start smiling and then keep their attention focused on the balloon and bring the balloon towards the camera.
Peek a boo with the photographer behind the camera is a favourite!
Music!
Music can also help baby feel comfortable. Tell the photographer if your baby has some favourite tunes!
Before the photoshoot
Making sure your baby is rested and well fed before arriving is important, so think about when your booking is and be prepared.
Things to bring for your baby’s comfort
Bring somewhere that you can put your baby down in. This will make things easier for mum if she wants to chat to the photographer.
Don’t forget spare nappies! Make sure you’ve allowed for plenty of time after the booking, so things are as relaxed as possible. Babies will need frequent breaks! The best shots are done right at the start. Babies will get frustrated and lose patience fast! If you have older kids having a photoshoot, then the photographer will recommend doing everything with your baby first.
Themed Props!
Themed props are a core part of making 6 months to 1 year old baby photoshoot visually striking. Once you’ve agreed on a theme with your photographer, if you have anything at home within that theme, let the photographer know, and bring it! This can be a cuddly toy, outfits, a hat…
And most of all, enjoy it!
